i have been improving a lot lately and am getting more attention than i am used to. a few months ago nobody knew who i was. it was really freaking me out yesterday and i deleted a bunch of my stuff from the web. things are back to normal now and i will update regularly.

You need to get used to popularity, Brent ;)
If You continue to constantly get better, it's inevitable You'll attract attention. Just keep being humble about your skill, because no matter how good you are there is always someone better out there.

Migoi ( tibetan for wild man) another name for a yeti
process on the migoi, i like the second to last better than the final i think. i hesitated in posting this one because it reminded me of daves beastman, beast from xmen, and hellboy. i try to just go with it when i am painting and i think i apply things subliminally. i used refs of snow leopards, caribou, primates, and llamas.

Last creature looks pretty nice. Maybe a good thing for You would be to keep refining it more and try to bring it to Dave's level of finish.

The yeti is awesome Brent! I think the main difference between Dave and you is that Dave pays more attention to soft vs hard brushwork. Daves stuff is very well balanced, while yours is mostly sharp all over. Id love it if you'd try to make an entire image with JUST the soft round. Make it sharp where its supposed to be sharp by using a SMALL soft round, but use ONLY soft round. It might not look awesome at first, and i dont mean you should always use just soft round, but man you learn ALOT from it.

lol, i was talking more about the idea than the execution. i wouldnt dare compare my skill or knowledge of form and lighting to dave. i do 90 percent of my stuff with a soft round then screw it up with custom brushes towards the end.

trying to push the design in my creatures, while not relying on custom brushes. used the soft round and 2 layers at a time. this nocturnal primate leaps around the treetops like a frog/lemur, has sloth like hands and a prehensile tail. he also sports a muttonstache.

Awesome Brent! This is exactly what i wanted to see. Dave used to talk alot about custom brushes and how you shouldn't use them until you could do the exact same thing with a normal soft round. I'ts so easy to overuse them and potentially ruin an otherwise great image. Keep it up!
