Hmm, I have a lot of people who I look up to. Skottie Young, Jim Lee, LeSean Thomas, Keron Grant and so on. Lately Dave Rapoza have caught my eyes a lot. He hits that little g-spot between cartoony, painty and realism...y... realistic perfectly.

I've always been a huge fan of Frazetta, I remember my mom bought me this Frazetta book when I was in middle school and I brought it to school cause it had boobs in it and I wanted to show my friends.

It got taken away and my mom, yelled at the principal over the phone trying to tell them that it was just art and that it wasn't porn.

I shouldn't have taken it to school, cause I never got it back.

I can't narrow it down, but here are a few.

Tomer Hanuka

Sergio Toppi

Calum A Watt AKA Salaryman

Bernie Fuchs. He really had great ideas of where to put detail and where to leave it out.

I could go on forever, but I don't want to hog the thread with a giant post.

My choice would be Glenn Brown: The way he paints is just crazyily awesome. It's all about the replication of other works, bringing to light the imperfections of reproduction.
I also have some top animators (because that's my field): Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli) and Tex Avery

I forgot to mention Alex Toth. He is truly The artists artist. I just found a database of his old model sheets. They are pretty impressive. I really like how he only stuck to what was necessary and didn't make any sort of effort to be flashy.

Kasemir Malevich, his Black Square is so stupid it's brilliant
Mr. Laird and Mr. Eastman, because their work sparked the connection that art has a real person behind creation, and maybe artists connect with the viewer.

right now bumskee, i love his very smeary, vibrant, almost dream like style. its like what id be doing if i didnt suck ; )

john sargent, my favorite artist. i love his very style.. i love how his values are so so so subtle, but the highlights are very exaggerated. his style is very photoreal but zoomed in his art is simple effortless strokes.

and honestly, dave (seeing hes my age and hes doing some very cool and impressive work and we dig the same music so far and he likes awesome 80s things. and knows who the guyver is.
